Rugby Happenings Week of March 1, 2010
Here is what is on tap for this week.
Practice: Monday March 1, Wednesday March 3, and Thursday March 4., Williams Park. Mouth guards are now MANDATORY from here to the end of the season. Players without mouth guards will not be able to participate in any drills.
Scrimmage: This is something that we have just added and is not currently on the schedule. On Sunday March 7th at 3 p.m. we will scrimmage Carmel and Noblesville in jamboree type matches. The coaches will be allowed to be on the field during the scrimmages. Since we were unable to participate in the jamboree this is a great introduction to the game in a friendly environment. It is also a great way for parents to be introduced to the game. We will need to meet at the parking lot of Williams park at 1 p.m. to caravan to Noblesville. Directions are available on www.brownsburgrugby.org. As a reminder players are not allowed to drive to away games.
Nash Bash: I have sent out and posted hotel details and other trip information. I do not yet have a full itinerary but will send one out including the address of the fields as soon as I have all information. The cost for the players is $40 and will cover their bus ride, hotel room, dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. Players will need money for dinner on Saturday night and for any other incidentals (there will be t-shirts and other rugby related items for purchase). Don Stumpp will be contacting parents in regards to any other items we will need for the weekend (water, gatorade, snacks etc). Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. And also let me know if you are planning on coming down to Nashville. Just as a reminder we will be leaving on Friday March 12 and returning on Sunday March 14. There will be assigned supervision for players during the trip and the team must at all times adhere to the code of conduct that has been signed by coaches, parents and players. This will be our first opportunity to travel for the girls team and I hope it is just the first of many to come. We have the opportunity to play teams from other parts of the country which will only help us get better.
Rugby Indiana: There are still several who need to register with www.rugbyindiana.com. This is a requirement and must be completed by March 11th for participation in Nash Bash. If you have already registered then you are all set.
Rugby 101: For those new to rugby there are some great videos on You Tube. There are several "rugby 101" type videos that help introduce the game in a way that is helpful.
